On Monday, at a lunchtime Party Conference fringe meeting in Brighton gave John had an opportunity to challenge UKIP leader Nigel Farage. The UKIP leader had come to debate the need for a referendum on Europe.
John remarked: "Saying that Britain could make its way in the world outside the European Union, like Norway and Switzerland is a deception. Countries in Europe trade extensively with each other. It's got to be better on the inside where a Country has a strong vote rather than on the outside where they have to take what is offered."
