Relief as ban lifted

Cattle Exports to the European Union can resume from 25 August. Vets have agreed that the ban imposed at the outbreak of foot-and-mouth can be lifted. An EU Commission spokesman praised the "swift action" taken by the UK.

"Good news for Farmers as swift action has paid off in dealing with this outbreak. Now the Government has to get back to finding out why it happened in the first place" commented John.

A ban continues for a 10km zone in Surrey.
