A recent poll showed that many people think that the continued exodus of manufacturing jobs to low-cost countries is inevitable. Then the question arises; should the Europe place import restrictions on goods from China, India and the Far East to protect European manufacturing jobs?
John answered a resounding "no" to that question. He went on to say: "European manufacturing should be supported but not by blocking fair competition. Where goods meet the required standards there should be an open market. Europe must create, innovate and look ahead. It must fund research adequately and develop new markets particularly serving the need to address environmental challenges."
