If a chief constable calls for action on underage drinking then he should be supported. If a chief constable calls for a ban on drinking till age 21 he's not thought it through.
My observation is there's a different attitude to drinking in the UK when compared to Continental Europe. But rising the drinking age is not a solution. Anti-social behaviour must be fought. However in the end it's a matter of attitude, behaviour and social pressure. Let's deal with cheep booze, underage alcohol abuse and a culture that celebrates getting sloshed as a good night out. A chief constable must be given the resources to enforce the current law. Young people between the ages of 18 and 21 shouldn't be criminalised for an occasional social drink.
